The area of Nizke Tatry is one of the most attractive Slovakian places thaks to its beautiful nature and favorable flying conditions and winter sports. High elevation and an easy accessibility thanks to the funicular makes ideal conditions for paragliding.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This is a seven-day training organized by Jemm in Slovakia. A successful completion of this course will qualify you for a pilot license – category PL-A, issued by the Czech or Slovak LAA. This license authorizes you to …

Meeting point: We’ll meet up on Saturday, the first day of the course, at 12.00 PM in Jasná –Demänovà dolina under the Chopok peak, right near the down funicular station.

First, we’ll hut and then we’ll leave for the training green fields. There, you’ll open for the first time your paragliding gear. Right away the first day we’ll teach you how to fasten your harness and lead the parachute above your head.In between jogging on the grass fields we’ll talk about paragliding and screen interesting clips and videos about it. We’ll make sure you know where your left and right sides are and if you’re good at take-offs and landings. After having managed the fields, you’ll try flying from the hillside.

Finally, you’ll get to uphills. We’ll drive you to the take-off area Chopok or Donovaly, where, after a couple of fast steps you’ll see how you’ll sidle away from the land. You’ll sit in your harness comfortably and will enjoy that, what you’ve starved for

At the beginning, you’ll be guided by the trainer through the transmitter. Later, with your progression, the frequency of the trainer’s voice will lower and finally, you’ll find out that you fly utterly on your own.

In case of unfavorable weather we’ll check out local switchbacks in the largest

Acquapark in Slovakia or will visit thermal SPAs in Bešeňovà.

The course will be ending around midday of the last planned day.

NOT TO FORGET

Make sure you’ve got good anklet boots, important for practical exercises,long-sleeved t-shirts, a sports jacket, gloves and comfortable trousers,
Don’t forget your medical insurance.

REQUIREMENTS

Medical check-up at a general practitioner, who would certify that you’re fit toparticipate in a paragliding training;
Minimum age of 15;
A written consent by parents or legitimate representatives under the

age of 18

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED?

Meals;
Accommodation. You can stay at the hut called Barborka at the price of Sk 300,–/ €10 per person per night. It has a shared space and an equipped kitchen where you can make your own meals;
Funicular tickets. Special prices for paragliding pilots! Donovaly – one ride for Sk 60/ €2 (460 m); Chopok–four rides for Sk 600/ €20(700 m from the down funicular station);
